Atlanta's Best Neighborhoods to Own a Home: July 2011

Realtors as Politicians - patriotism or common sense?

Two weeks ago, Georgia legislators listened to residents at a public hearing held at Georgia Tech, preparing for an upcoming special session of the Georgia General Assembly. The special session, to be held on August 15, will be to redraw the state’s legislative and congressional districts, to better reflect changes in Georgia's population, based on the 2010 census. The meeting was the last of 12 public hearings held around the Peach State.

Many of the speakers expressed hope that “communities of interest”, defined as "areas which share common beliefs and lifestyles", would be kept intact during the process.

Yes, that would seem to be the best thing to do, however, my biggest fear is that some of our elected officials will continue to represent us. Take a look at what Georgia's 4th district congressman said in a congressional hearing last spring:  watch this YouTube video. How would you like to have him representing you?

I've been saying for years, that I wanted to run for US Congress. Or, rather that someone, anyone, should run against this man. If the citizens of his district don't get either better representation, or better sense, from him, maybe 2012 will be "the" year that I actually do run. Nancy4TheHouse.com -- I kind of like the sound of it!
